The 53rd Annual Sports Meet of National Public School, Gopalapuram, Chennai was held in the Armed Reserve Police Parade Ground on 23rd, December,2022 from 8 am. Ms M S Mythili, National Champion in Table Tennis was the Chief Guest. Mr Hari Krishnan, Chief Executive of National Public group of schools presided over the function and distributed the prizes.

Mrs.B Sujatha, the Principal gave the welcome address. This was followed by the presentation of the Annual Sports Report by V Abhinav, the Sports Secretary.

The Chief guest, Ms. Mythili spoke about the advantages of a sports person being able to travel across the globe and meet eminent personalities. She also emphasised that sports teaches one to handle success and failure with equanimity.

Mr.Harikrishnan , in his keynote address spoke about the importance of discipline and perseverance to succeed. Speaking about the lessons learnt from the world cup, he urged the students to imbibe the fighting spirit of the world cup teams which played football in Qatar in the recently concluded FIFA tournament. He praised the exemplary sportsmanship of the Japanese team and reiterated the significance of practice, resilience, team work and sportsmanship in the overall development of a student.

The highlight of the Sports Meet was the amazing display of the students of Grades 1 to 11 who showcased their talents in a plethora of fitness related demonstrations that included Calisthenics, Aerobics, Yoga and Nanchaku to name a few. The skill and strength exhibited by the students was appreciated by one and all.

Brilliance House bagged the Overall Championship Award and Radiance House was declared the Runners Up. The eventful day concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by the Sports Secretary, Mahima.
